Pekaway IOT Bridge 4G

Instructions for installing and using the Pekaway IOT Bridge LTE

The Pekaway IOT Bridge LTE makes it possible to use the Pekaway Connect app for the VAN PI OS remotely. The bridge connects to both the local WLAN and the mobile network via LTE (no LTE-M). An integrated GPS receiver enables the system to be localised and the Plus version also has a rechargeable battery that maintains localisation for 24 hours if the system battery fails.

Step-by-step instructions for installation and configuration

  1. Connect the power supply

Connect the Pekaway IOT Bridge LTE to a power source using a USB-C cable.

  1. Establish a Wi-Fi connection to the Bridge

Establish a connection to the bridge's Wi-Fi. Search for the network with the name "Pekaway IOT Bridge" and connect to it.

3. Call up the web interface

Open a web browser and enter the IP address of the bridge to access the web interface. The default IP is usually 192.168.4.1.

  1. Enter the WLAN settings of the VAN PI OS

In the web interface, navigate to the WLAN settings. Enter the WLAN settings of the VAN PI OS, either in access point (AP) or client mode. Enter the corresponding IP address.

  1. Enter remote user e-mail and password

Enter your email address and the password that you have previously registered in the Pekaway Connect app. These settings allow the app to connect to the VAN PI system via the bridge.

  1. Check the connection

The successful connection is confirmed at the top right of the app with "Bridge". If no VAN PI system is found, check the Wi-Fi settings and make sure that all data has been entered correctly.

Using the integrated SIM card

The Pekaway IOT Bridge LTE has an integrated SIM card. You therefore do not need to worry about providing your own SIM card. (This SIM card is bound to the system) On the product page of the Pekaway website you will find a country map that shows in which regions the SIM card works.

Using the integrated battery (4G+ version)

The 4G+ version of the Pekaway IOT Bridge has a built-in battery. This takes over the power supply if the USB-C power source fails.

Note: The battery is only actively used when the switch is set to "Batt ON". The Bridge is supplied with the "Batt OFF" setting as standard.

To activate the battery, set the switch to "Batt ON".

Subscription and prepaid options

Important: An active subscription is required to use the Bridge.

This subscription can be purchased on the Pekaway website. Alternatively, you can also book a prepaid option.

Resetting the Bridge

If problems occur or the Bridge needs to be reset:

Via reset button: Press the reset button three times, 2 seconds apart.

Via power supply: Disconnect the power supply three times, 2 seconds apart. These steps reset the Bridge to the factory settings.

LED displays:

-> POWER LED - Signals the power supply via USB.

-> NET LED: flashing quickly = mobile connection established / static = mobile connection being established.

-> STA LED: static = LTE module found.

Important notes

LTE connection: The bridge uses an LTE CAT1 connection and not LTE-M. LTE-M is not available in many regions, especially in Europe.

GPS positioning: The integrated GPS receiver enables the system to be located. The Plus version with rechargeable battery enables localisation for up to 24 hours if the system battery fails.
